Wall Flower

How cute are these wall flowers? Would look great hanging over a home bar perhaps? Love the idea about adding some colour, as well as some tactile feeling to walls. The next step from wall decals perhaps?

What To Wear: New Year's Eve?

Well, I'm headed to the outlets to see if I can find myself a new new year's eve dress. And maybe a purse. And probably some shoes. My inspiration? I'm thinking of perhaps celebrate the new year in a sparkle dress. You would certainly look fab. Don't know if strapless is a great idea though. There ought to be dancing on New Year's Eve. Real dancing. Dancing that requires a bra. Just saying.

Home Tour: NYC Couple

This home tour isn't so much about the home as the...well... the New York Times. I'm not the only person who loves spending Saturday mornings in bed with a handsome man and the New York Times (The Globe is an acceptable substitute)? I get style, front page, travel, business and arts. You get anything else as long as you read me the interesting and important FACTS you find. And if we were to make it a perfect fantasy 'handsome man' would bring me a soy latte and breakfast in bed. And breakfast would include bacon. And there would be a puppy who wouldn't try and eat my breakfast or knock over my coffee. And I would possibly own the very stylish NYC apartment I was sleeping in.
*Sigh* A girl can dream.

Merry Christmas

For all of those who celebrate it, Merry Christmas. I hope your day is filled with friends and family, food and wine, laughter and ... dessert.

Believe

It's the morning of the eve before Christmas. I think. I'm up early and headed to the St. Lawrence Market to get some yummies for the big day(s). That's right, this year will have a Christmas Eve dinner, a Christmas Dinner, and a Boxing Day dinner. SO MUCH EATING. I can't wait. The afternoon will be spent in baking mode as it's my responsibility to bring some of the delicious sweets. I hope everyone is prepared and not shopping for gifts today (oh, the mall horrors)!
Good thing i'm up early, as I must get to bed early because Santa doesn't come if you're awake too late. FACT.

Charlotte Olympia

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how freaking great these shoes are? I. Want.
Ok, back to whatever you were doing.
It's Christmas Eve tomorrow. I'm sure you have SOMETHING to do.

Warm Winter

A little cold? For the first month or two at least I actually like winter. No, scratch that, sometimes I downright LOVE winter. Winter is about soup (pho and ramen specifically), and risotto, spiced cider and hot chocolate (soy for me of course), cashmere and cuddling. What's not to love about being cozy? Course I say that now. Give me a few more weeks until I'm begging for the easy breezy summer days, but for now I'm going to enjoy all that winter has to offer (including being off for the next week and a half).
Brunch at noon tomorrow? Don't mind if I do.

Bring In The Light

It's the shortest day of the year. From here on in it's nothing but light. Tonight, to celebrate I'm heading down to Kensington Market for the Festival of Lights. There are puppets, and fire breathers, and costumes and candles, and music. All wrapping up with a great big bonfire in downtown Toronto. What a way to celebrate the darkness, and the coming of the light.

I Just Bought: Holiday Necklace

Was out Christmas shopping on Friday with the Mommy when I picked up this little gift for myself. At $18, it's a great deal considering I have literally been wearing it since I brought it home! I even wore it today at the office. What a great way to pretty up a jeans and cardigan day. It also makes me feel better about my less than ideal haircut on Friday. That's right, keep your eyes on my neck, and don't look up!

Modern Manly Christmas

Another apartment christmas tree. Can you tell I'm sad I live in an apartment and don't have space for a real, live tree? But if you're going to make do, make it stylish! I love this modern take on what I would call a Condo Christmas. All of the spirit and style, with much less space.

What To Wear: Christmas Party Edition 2010 V. 3

Pretty Alert!
And I have a hunch that that skirt would be pretttty forgiving if you were to say, eat a lot at many parties. Not that that is an important factor for me in choosing dresses...or anything. Working on these What to Wear at Christmas editions has made me realize I need more dresses. And shoes. Thank goodness for Boxing Day sales!

This cute little pink number would set you apart from the sea of black (no judgement, I'll be wearing black). Plus those pretty ruffles? Will bring this dress perfectly into spring. Put your hair in an updo, and add sparkle heels to bring this dress into the Christmas Party Season. Also appropriate for the What To Wear on New Years question.

What To Wear: Christmas Party Edition 2010

With three parties on Saturday (and a Cake Pop baking party), and one on Sunday, it's time to devise some outfits. Here is one idea... more to come! Birks on a "Budget"

Double Face Mirror with Scattered Crystal $80

Freshwater Pearl Earrings in 18k Yellow Gold $100

Pewter Flask with Satin Band $55

Valet Heart Locket Keyring $180

Say the mother of your boyfriend is really nice, and gave you a really nice early Christmas gift. Something you had been wanting, but couldn't really bring yourself to buy because it was "too much". And say this nice lady also liked nice things. Things out of your price range. Because even though you have a full time job you've only been working for a few years since grad school, and EVERY PENNY is accounted for you in your budget and any extra money you may find seems to go to travel, and that's not such a bad things right? Hypothetically speaking of course. Well, say you wanted to get someone a nice gift. Maybe a nice brand name gift, but knew you couldn't spend as much as you wanted. Well turns out that there are some "deals" to be had. Check out what you can get at Birks for under $200. And the flask? Maybe not for the mother. But the brother is turning legal drinking age this year...

Homemade ornaments

How cute is this mini tree with homemade cookie cutter ornaments? Perfect for an apartment or small space. Great craft project as well!
